Solution Sales Engineer

Job Summary: Reporting to the Director of Sales, you will team with all members of the Network Management Division sales organization to provide evaluation assistance of a technical nature to individuals interested in the Network Management product line. The overall goal of this individual is to achieve the sales budget, through assisting the sales team in converting prospects into Network Management customers by helping the team to overcome any technical challenges or sales objections.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Capture an understanding of prospect needs and develop technical sales strategies to fulfill those needs, leveraging product strengths.
- Set up and maintain a complete product demonstration environment of the Network Management Product line for use in sales presentations.
- Serve as a technical consultant for Sales in all pre-sales environments, including phone, e-mail support, product demonstrations, off-site seminars, trade shows, and assist with proposal/presentation development.
- Work closely with Technical Support, Product Marketing and Product Development as a prospect advocate to ensure market needs are communicated from a technical perspective.
- Participate in monthly Product Development meetings.
- Work with, and travel to, distributors, resellers, VAR’s and Premier Partners to train respective sales staffs on sale and support of Network Management products.
- Customer advocate communicating product feature requests and bug reporting to Technical Support, Product Marketing and Product Development.
- Continuously improve skills through self-study or participation in training sessions.
- Proactively reach out to prospects and provide technical assistance during their evaluation of Ipswitch software.
- Travel as needed (10%)
Education and Experience
- Education - Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent.
- 2-4 years of experience in sales, sales engineering, and possess strong troubleshooting skills.
- Experience monitoring and/or administering and configuring networks.
- CCNA certification highly desired.
- Ability to impressively demonstrate solutions with technical proficiency and solution selling skills.
- Experience with the following protocols: SNMP, WMI, ICMP, Telnet, Netflow, SSH, SSL, HTTP, HTTPS.
- Ability to work pro-actively with a sales oriented personality. Must be customer driven, thrive on tight deadlines and utilize innovation to navigate the sales process.
- Must be highly motivated, have excellent organizational, and verbal communication skills.
- Multi-language skills a plus.
- Certification in solution selling or similar training a plus.
