Ipswitch, Inc. - Network Management Division


Ennio Carboni, President

Ennio Carboni is the President and GM for the Network Management Division at Ipswitch. He leads all aspects of Ipswitch Network Management Division's strategic direction and day-to-day operations. Under his leadership in products and strategy, the division has quadrupled in four years and produced record margins and profits each year. The culture he believes in is best explained by Jim Collins in his bestseller Good to Great, "Getting the right people on the right bus in the right seats." Ipswitch Network Management Division is a market favorite with customer and user communities and was named one of Boston's Best Places to work in the Mid-market category.

Ennio previously held a variety of product management and product marketing roles at CA, IMlogic (acquired by Symantec), RSA Security and Novell (through the acquisition of Baranof Software/Tally Systems. He received his BS and MBA from Northeastern University in Boston.

Ennio is active in two charities through Ipswitch's iCare program. The iCare program has donated more than $1M to charities focused on eradicating child poverty worldwide. Ennio loves sports, especially college hockey and European Soccer; he strongly believes his six year old son is a future World Cup star. Ennio, his wife and son love spending time at various New England beaches and Martha's Vineyard.



Kevin Gillis, Vice President of Corporate Development and Customer Advocacy

Kevin Gillis is the Vice President of Product Management and Strategy for the Network Management division of Ipswitch. He is responsible for product management and driving strategic growth through new product introductions and acquisitions.

Gillis held senior product management roles at IBM, Lotus, Trellix and The Learning Company. He holds a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering with honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Go Jackets!) while also completing the Co-Op Program, spending a semester abroad at St. John’s College, University of Cambridge, and completing an internship with the US Senate.

Gillis can be found spending time with his wife and four children, Irish dancing with his wife, coaching youth sports, traveling, reading, or eating barrels of ice cream. He is also involved in organizing fundraisers as well as being a member of an Investment Club, Book Club and Market Research Institute.




Patrick Loring, Vice President of North America Sales

Patrick was promoted to Vice President of Sales for North America following 2 record breaking years as the Director of Sales and Strategic Accounts for the Network Management Division. Throughout this period Patrick has increased revenues and profits for the territory in both New and Recurring Customer categories by over 165%. Patrick now leads all North American Sales activities including, Commercial and Government Sectors, Channels, Business Development, and Professional Services. He ensures a strong commitment to a customer centric culture throughout the expanding North American Team.

Prior to his role as Director of Sales, Patrick managed and then directed Business Development and OEM sales for Ipswitch. During this time period he secured the largest OEM sales in company history and drove strategic partnerships with companies including Cisco Systems, Adobe, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, and Lockheed Martin.

Before to joining Ipswitch, Patrick spent 4 years at Novell (formerly Tally Systems) concluding as National Accounts Manager where he consistently generated the highest revenues and closed the most high profile accounts of any representative within division. Patrick started his career at The Software Developers Company, a 2 tier reseller/distributor of over 8000 software titles, where he achieved National Account Manager status and was named Most Valuable Player.

Patrick has a BS in Business Administration from the Whittemore School of Business & Economics at the University of New Hampshire.

In his spare time he enjoys boating with the family, playing gigs with his band or coaching baseball.




Alessandro Porro, Vice President of International Sales

Alessandro Porro is the Vice President of International Sales for the Ipswitch Network Management Division. Alessandro joined Ipswitch in 2004, shortly thereafter becoming Director of Sales for Asia Pacific and Latin America, increasing revenues from those regions by more than 300% in his first three years in that role, and after which he was promoted to oversee the Division’s entire International interests and profitability, increasing revenues 468% through all channels in the span of six years.

Alessandro spent over twelve years successfully leading international sales both in the IT and manufacturing sectors, in Latin America (Southern Cone), Europe (Germany/Italy), and the United States.

Alessandro attended Boston University's BA/MA program in International Economics.

Alessandro still likes to reminisce about the years during which he was a semipro soccer player, but he currently enjoys spending his down time cooking, writing, and playing with his daughter Maia Elyse.




Ronnie Ray, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management

Ronnie Ray is the Vice President of Marketing and Product Management for the Network Management division of Ipswitch. He leads the global marketing and product management functions that are responsible for driving market-leading innovation, growth and customer value.

Ronnie has nearly twenty years of experience in marketing and building technology and software products in both public and private companies. Prior to joining Ipswitch, he founded and ran MarketPlane, a boutique consulting firm helping growth companies accelerate their marketing and demand generation results. Prior to MarketPlane, Ronnie held several senior executive positions at InfoVista S.A. heading Marketing, Product Management and Strategic Projects. Earlier, Ronnie was co-founder of multiple venture backed start-ups in the application management and Internet services sectors that were acquired by larger industry players.

Ronnie completed his MBA in Marketing and Corporate Strategy from the Indian Institute of Management and his Bachelors in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.

In his down time, Ronnie enjoys reading, spending time with his family, and exploring all that the New England seasons have to offer. Being a recent New Englander, he is getting ready to expand his repertoire from playing soccer and walking around a golf course to more active winter sports.




Marina Gil-Santamaria, Director of Product Marketing Management & Community

Marina Gil-Santamaria is the Director of Product Marketing Management & Community for the Ipswitch Network Management Division. She is responsible for messaging, positioning, and Go-to-Market-strategies for products and solutions centered around the WhatsUp Gold IT Management Platform and WhatsUp Event Log Management product lines. Marina is also responsible for re-building, launching, managing, and evangelizing WUGspace – an IT community centered around meaningful and valuable technical content for network engineers, IT managers, Architects and System Administrators.

Marina has held positions in development, professional services, online communities, product management and product marketing management with organizations such as CA, Wily, Empirix, Oracle and Gomez.

Marina holds an MS in electrical engineering from the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, Spain. She came to America as a visiting scientist at the Electrical and Computer Engineering School at Boston University.

In her spare time Marina takes pleasure in spending time with her husband and daughter. She also enjoys reading, history, and traveling.




Tamara Hart, Director of Marketing

Tamara Hart is the Director of Global Marketing for the Ipswitch Network Management Division. She is responsible for all aspects of our global marketing activities including strategic direction, channel marketing programs, online marketing, and branding and communications.

Tamara worked in International marketing at BoysTown Australia and at Earthwatch as a Program Advisor, where she was team leader on an archeological research expedition to Mallorca, Spain.

Tamara has a bachelor’s degree in business from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia.

Tamara can be found enjoying the outdoors with her daughter, travelling to warmer climates and sharing “Tim Tam’s”, Australia’s favorite cookies, with her colleagues.




Wade Hundley, Vice President of Research & Development

Wade Hundley is the Director of R&D for the Network Management division of Ipswitch. He is responsible for overseeing development of the network management suite of products.

Wade spent 17 years at ERDAS, a provider of software used in the geospatial analysis and simulation markets, where he served in both engineering and management roles. Wade has also served as Vice President of R&D for TerraGo Technologies, a provider of geospatial collaboration software products.

Wade holds a degree in Computer Science from James Madison University.




Karen Pline, Director of Technical Support

Karen Pline is the Director of Technical Support for the Network Management division of Ipswitch. She is responsible for managing the global Technical Support organization.

Prior to Ipswitch, Karen worked at Northrop Grumman Corporation, Hewlett-Packard Company, and Boeing Military Airplane Company.

Karen holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics/Computer Science, and holds certifications in various technologies, including HP-UX Systems Administration and A+ Security.

Karen enjoys spending her time away from work with her husband and three children, travelling, cooking and reading. Karen is currently involved with Autism programs in the community, working to ensure her youngest son has a rich and promising future. If you can’t find her at work or at home, try the tennis courts around Atlanta. Karen competes in several leagues and volunteers for the United States Tennis Association.
