Einstein’s Theory of Relativity
On this day, March 20th, in 1916, the genius German physicist Albert Einstein published his general theory of relativity. This theory is what got Einstein wide recognition in the field of physics, and specifically for his theory on mass-energy equivalence which is represented by the common equation E = mc2 . His theory of relativity also was a catalyst in his being awarded the Nobel Prize in physics, for his services to theoretical physics and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect. Einstein would go on to publish over 300 scientific works and over 150 non-scientific works. His legacy still lives on to this day, after being names the Person of the Century by Time Magazine.
