iPhone People’s Choice for Mobile Access

iphone-parallels4Apparently the iPhone is one of the few recession-proof commodities left in the U.S. According to an AdMob Mobile Metrics report released this morning, Apple’s cell phone now accounts for an impressive 50 percent of the U.S.’s mobile Web traffic from smartphones. The iPhone made up only 10 percent of that mobile Web traffic in August 2008, just before the world’s economic woes took a drastic turn for the worst. Meanwhile, during the same time Blackberry’s share has dropped to 21 percent from 32 percent and Windows Mobile has declined from 30 percent to 13 percent. Palm is down to 7 percent from 19 percent six months ago. But despite consumers’ obvious predilection to purchase the iPhone Michael Dell, CEO of Dell hinted at his company’s plan to delve into the smartphone biz during a speech today in Tokyo. “It is true that we are exploring smaller-screen devices,” he said. “We don’t have any announcements to share today, but stay tuned as when we have new news we will share that with you.”

But whether you run with the masses and own an iPhone or you’re holding onto your Verizon account and prefer the Blackberry, you should check out WhatsUp Gold’s new mobile access feature and keep track of your network on the go!
