Manage network and application traffic and bandwidth
Available as an integrated WhatsUp Gold plug-in, Flow Monitor provides detailed
insight into how your network bandwidth and capacity are utilized and by whom. Flow
Monitor not only highlights the overall utilization of the LAN, WAN, specific device,
or interface, it also indicates which users, applications and protocols are consuming
Analyze traffic and verify QoS
Flow Monitor makes it easy to conduct traffic identification and analysis, as well
as verify Quality of Service (QoS) through ToS, DSCP for the LAN/WAN, or new Top
NBAR and CBQoS reports.
Ensure application performance
With WhatsUp Gold Flow Monitor, you can ensure application performance, oversee
network traffic prioritization policies and save money by minimizing wasted bandwidth.
Flow Monitor Capabilities
New in V16! Support for filtering/reporting based on Autonomous
System numbers associated with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing.
Map flows to business units. Flow data from multiple devices and ports can be grouped
together by business use or unit, rather than individual ports. This functionality
is applied to both the reporting and threshold alerting engines, enabling rapid
responses to business-impacting traffic bottlenecks.
Automatically discover and configure flow sources. Using SNMP, the Flow Monitor
plug-in determines what devices on the network are “flow capable” and automatically
configures those devices to forward flow records with all appropriate timeouts and
flow collector parameters configured. It effectively eliminates the need for “flow
expertise” among staff, who can now focus on interpreting the results and not configuring
Monitor any flow-enabled device
Flow Monitor supports all the popular flow management formats, including NetFlow,
sFlow, J-Flow and IPFIX. It also supports Cisco's NSEL (NetFlow Secure Event Logging)
format, which is available on the ASA product line. With such extensive flow format
support, you can use Flow Monitor with your existing devices – no need to upgrade.
Support for non-flow devices. Flow Monitor also collects NetFlow
compliant records from WhatsUp Flow Publisher, providing visibility into application,
host and user traffic across all non-flow capable devices.
Visibility into network bandwidth utilization
Diagnosing a network delay without visibility into QoS and network traffic is a
difficult task. With WhatsUp Gold’s Flow Monitor, you have the data you need to
diagnose network delays, manage bandwidth utilization and ensure optimal network
Comprehensive flow reporting. Flow Monitor includes Top Protocols,
Top Applications, Top Senders, 95 Percentile and Top Conversations which track real-time
usage as well as historical trends.
Threshold-based alerting. Working with Alert Center, Flow Monitor
shows you where and when problems may develop in real-time. You can set up multiple
configurable thresholds to track the volume of traffic between conversation pairs,
failed connections per host, top senders and receivers and specific interfaces over
